What you can check

What else can you get checked?

Blood tells you a lot, but not everything. These are the checks that together give a complete preventive picture, from your bones and blood pressure to your biological age. For each one you'll see what it measures, where to go and which private providers offer it.

Bone density (DEXA scan)doctor referral or private clinic

Measures how strong your bones are and your risk of osteoporosis, something you won't notice until a fracture. Reimbursed via your doctor; privately it can be done without a referral.

Private providers: DC Klinieken

Blood pressureat home or at your doctor

The easiest to measure and most treatable risk factor for heart and brain. Aim for under 130/80 mmHg.

CAC score (calcium scan)hospital or private clinic

A short CT scan that measures calcium in your coronary arteries, a direct look at early arterial plaque. Usually from age 45.

Biological agecommercial test (home sample)

An epigenetic clock estimates how old your body is biologically, apart from your calendar age. Still very much developing, so read the result with a pinch of salt.

Cognitive screeningdoctor or memory clinic

For persistent memory complaints: a test that reassures or catches a problem early.

Genetic counselling (BRCA1/2)clinical genetics, on referral

Strong family history of breast, ovarian or colorectal cancer? Clinical genetics (via your doctor) maps your risk. A commercial DNA test gives a broader risk picture, but does not replace that medical assessment.
