Chronic low-grade inflammation is a smouldering, long-term activation of your immune system that you barely notice but that is measurable in blood markers such as hsCRP. It is driven by factors including excess body weight, sleep deprivation, a disrupted gut microbiome, gum disease and physical inactivity. Unlike acute inflammation after an injury, this form does not resolve on its own and sustains itself through multiple biological feedback loops.
