When is the best time to take fisetin?

Insufficient evidence

There is no scientifically supported recommendation for the best time to take fisetin. If in doubt, take it with a meal containing some fat, but be aware that this has not been confirmed by studies.

The available scientific literature says nothing concrete about the best time to take fisetin, such as with a meal or at a specific time of day. A 2024 review explicitly states that more research is needed to answer even the most basic questions about dosing and absorption in humans.

What is clear is that fisetin dissolves poorly in water and is only moderately absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. This makes it difficult to get the compound into the body effectively in the first place. Because many fats can improve the absorption of poorly water-soluble substances, some people take fisetin with a fatty meal. However, this is a general line of reasoning, not an evidence-based recommendation from the studies available here.

In mouse research, a special nanoemulsion formulation of fisetin dramatically increased absorption. This says nothing about your timing of intake, though; it concerns how the capsule or supplement is manufactured, not when you take it.

Early clinical studies in humans show that fisetin as a senolytic agent (a substance that targets aged cells) is still not well understood in terms of safety and efficacy. As long as those fundamental questions remain open, no well-founded answer is possible to the question of the ideal time to take it.

3 studies

Four claims from two PMID sources (39384074 and 22387278). No human studies on timing of intake; bioavailability examined in mouse research only; 2024 review confirms knowledge gap regarding pharmacokinetics in humans.
